Never miss a recipe from us
Smoothies are great in-between meal snacks that are easy to make and super filling at the same time. The types of smoothies you can make are endless, but if you happen to be in the mood for something chocolatey, then this is the recipe for you.
Here’s how this dairy-free banana cacao smoothie comes together:
As smoothies go, you simply prep all your ingredients, toss them in your blender and blend, blend, blend!
This one is no different, except for one important detail…if you want your smoothie to be rich and creamy, you have to make sure to freeze your bananas before hand. Don’t freeze it whole and in the skin, that’ll cause you a whole world of pain – how do you peel a frozen banana after all?
Peel the banana and chop it into slices, then toss them into a freezer safe Ziploc bag and freeze for at least an hour. We usually have a bag or two waiting in our freezer.
Once your banana is frozen, add all the ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth.
That’s all there is!
The benefits of banana and cacao in a smoothie:
Peanut Butter is packed with healthy carbs and proteins, which will help with muscle repair and recovery, especially after a hard workout. Cocoa is loaded with antioxidants and gives this smoothie a rich chocolaty taste. Bananas are a staple in our diet, we have them daily – for 25 good reasons!

|Post–Workout Peanut Butter And Chocolate Milkshake|| |
- 2 sliced and frozen bananas
- 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
- 1 slightly heaped tablespoon of pure, dutch cocoa
- 1 c unsweetened almond milk
- Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smoooooth (about 1½ mins) then drink up!
Finally, the kicker in this recipe is the added plant protein powder. You can use whichever brand you like, our brand of choice is Vega (Sport Performance Protein, Chocolate). After a heavy workout I usually add 1/2 scoop plus an additional 1/4 cup of almond milk.
