With only 6 ingredients, there’s no excuses – it’s so simple to make! You probably have everything you need already waiting in your fridge. This recipe makes only one serving, but you can easily double it if you need to!
All you’ll need are a few kale leaves (we like to use the darker dinosaur kale), a nice handful of spinach, a banana and frozen mango for sweetness, a hearty knob of ginger, and lemon juice unless you have a super powerful blender you can toss the whole half in.
There are more nutrients in the lemon peel after all! Just make sure you’re using organic if you do this.
Not only is this green smoothie a treat for your taste buds, your body will thank you too.
Benefits of this energizing, alkaline smoothie
Our bodies are in a constant battle to be in a balanced pH state. There are two states our bodies can be in: alkaline, or acidic.
When we eat foods like starchy vegetables and grains, fish, gluten and dairy, we lean towards an acidic state. This can lead towards all kinds of problems internally, like a low immune system which can cause you to become tired, and in some cases, very sick.
To fix this, you don’t necessarily have to cut out acidic foods (unless we’re talking about processed foods and sweeteners!), you simply have to fill your body with more greens to balance it all out.
Greens like kale and spinach, along with vegetables like broccoli contain chlorophyll which is an extremely powerful phytochemical that works to alkalize the body.

- 2 large dinosaur kale leafs
- 1 handful of spinach
- 1 banana
- ½ cup frozen chopped mango
- 2 thumb sized knobs of ginger
- ½ lemon squeezed
- 1 cup water
- Wash kale and spinach, then toss all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth for about 1 minute.
